Dear Member

Happy belated new year to all our members and visitors alike.

After a relatively dry albeit cold December and start of January we have had a bout of horrible wet weather recently. This had made the golf course fairly wet in most areas. We have, as im sure you are aware put white lines on approaches and certain teeing areas. Please can you continue to follow these as it will improve the golf course long term by you keeping trolleys and buggies off these areas.

All tees, approaches and surrounds to greens have been sprayed for preventative worm treatment with an added liquid feed. We hope by spraying this will prevent worm casts on these areas. We will be spraying other areas that require soon.

Greens have been sprayed with a preventative fungicide with an added liquid feed mid January, and this continued practice has proved a success so far. The grass coverage this year on the greens will stand us in very good stead going forward into the spring.

There are a few areas where trees/bushes have been either removed or trimmed. This, we hope will improve sight on certain holes and also speed up play.

The bunkers on the course are in need of work. We assure you that a drainage/reshaping programme is in place.

Winter weather gives us as a team time to service our machinery and re grind cylinders ready for optimum cutting quality for when the weather improves and the mowing machines are back in full daily operation.

Just a little reminder that the green staff have right of way at all times on the golf course. We have had a few near misses recently with fly golf balls. We don’t want a major accident out there so please take care. The green staff will get out of your way asap.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you keep an eye out for pitch marks. If not repaired straight away they can take up to 14 days to recover. If you can repair your own, and 1 other if seen everyone will be happy.

I would like to thank my team for their continued hard work.

Happy golfing,

Gary Gornall
